While her human had long since passed on; Gelwinth sat on the sands. Her hide had dimmed some, the color fading to a dulled sort of gold. Her eyes twirled with hunger and madness. She only remained for the twenty three eggs that all lay in a half circle. Pushed to the side of the others was a Gold egg sitting high above and carefully protected within the Hatching Sands. A massive golden wing shielded the majority of the eggs from view as Gelwinth watched with a wary eye.
Not even the request of the bronzes could pull the dying gold from her eggs. Only the purpose to remain until the eggs had hatched drove her own. She hissed and snarled at any that dare tread upon the sands without her permission. These were her eggs. Her children. She would protect them. That was all Gelwinth lived for now. Without her rider, without her Gerra, she was nothing more then a beast who's time was running out.
Until that first crack occurred in several sevendays, Gelwinth would remain. Ever watchful, ever guarding.
The Golden Egg This Egg knows it's golden. See how it glimmers, how it shines, how it's bigger then it's clutchmates. It is the Queen. It is the all important Egg. Off to the side, it is above and higher then the other eggs.
Speckled Forest Greens upon greens criss cross across this egg. There seems to be no uniform pattern to the color as if someone had taken a paint brush to the egg and splattered the color back and forth. The color seems to vary but the lower you get, the darker the green becomes. Upon looking closer, one would see that there are specks of golden yellow. Like drops of sunlight captured upon the egg.
Strips of Sand Looking at this egg, one can not help but picture a vast ocean of sand. Like waves upon waves of it had spread across the surface of this egg. Each line almost seems to make the egg seem like it had ridges but should you dare to touch, you'd find that the egg is as smooth as the others. There are a few grittier lines but most of the egg seems to have a uniform pattern.
Green Planet At looking at this egg, it's like looking down at a tiny minature planet. A dragonrider could tell you that the shapes and colors were the same from way up high but it's like nothing regularly seen on pern. Each shade of blue seems to be an ocean while each green seems to be a landmass. There even seems to be clouds drifting across the shell but looking closer would tell you that it's just a figment of your imagination.
Snowy Lake This egg is predominantly blue. That sort of shade that looks like a clear lake on a sunny day. Yet sparkled across it are strange shapes of white. Each one is it's own unique shape and would remind any Northerner of snow that has freshly fallen. Each pattern of white seeming to curve and create it's own pattern across the shell.
Marshlands This egg is a multitude of colors. From Dark Green to light green to blue to white and all shades between. It seems to be vibrant and alive even if it sits the stillest on the sands. It stands out despite being surrounded by other equally bright and startling eggs. The way the shades travel over it's shell, you almost think that this egg would be more at home in something swirling and green.
Lines of Brownstone This egg looks like rocks. Plain and simple. Each new line seems to be another layer of rock. Like someone had begun to excavate the through layers of dirt and found different layers of a brown rock beneath it. Each little chunk of brown seems to lay out in a sort of pattern. As if the layers were trying to tell a tail of times long past.
Lightning over Water This egg is predominantly blue. That sort of shade that looks like a clear lake on a sunny day. Yet sparkled across it are strange shapes of white. Each shape looks like a flash of lightening as if this egg was sparking from within. Indeed, each little splash of white is in it's own place with nary a pattern between any of them.
Patch of Green At first glance, this egg looks like it's a blue blob but a closer glance would result in seeing that green spt on the top. Should one look even closer, they would see that it is not just a large amount of blue but shapes of varying shades of blue all along the bottom of it. They almost look like the portrusions of rocks but this is an illusion for the egg is as smooth as can be.
Frozen Fire Nestled in among it's fellows, this egg seems to be a bit on the unusual side. Across it's surface are patterns of red and pink. At first it would look like random swirls but a closer glance would reveal that most of the red is near the top; and that each pattern of red almost looks like fire trying to leap away to life only to be halted by the lighter shade around it.
Tropical Shore This egg sits calmly on the sands amongst it's fellows. At first one would think that there are lines across the egg but there is something unusual to be seen. specks of brown seem to color one area faintly whle large splashes of teal dot the nearly opposite side of the egg. The color seems closer to the shoreline of the Southern continent and it almost seems to invite the touch of another. Warm and balmy this egg says of the weather.
OOC: More eggs will be added up to the 23 once there are more Candidates available.
