Late Winter
Neerask had been adamant that it was time to feed so the young woman had stirred herself to venturing out into the Weyrbowl. It wasn't cold but the sky was cloudy and hinted of more snow. Sure, it would be gone within a few candlemarks but she was definitely not fond of snow. She had grown up on the southern part of the North Continent with warm beaches that rarely ever saw snow but this place always seemed to have it some time during Winter. The pair walked side by side, the golden Wher was quite massive next to the young woman. Standing easily above her shoulder, it would be much larger then nearly everything on Pern. Being gold, it was larger then most.
Her Wher huffed before lightly tilting it's head in her direction before continuing to walk. It chirruped rather curiously at it's human as it walked. It understood her thoughts some what but understood her feelings even better. "It's nothing, just thinking of home." She lightly patted the shoulder of her Wher as they walked. The Wher responded with images of home and another curious chirrup. "Not until we've finished what the Weyrleader asked us to do." There was a bit of a snort from the Wher and a shake of her head. Neera knew that her Wher knew precisely how the other riders felt about them but she didn't focus too much on that thought as they walked. No need to have a hungry and cranky Wher.
She'd stop just at the edge of the feeding ground even as her Wher bounded ahead. She watched for a brief moment before glancing around to see who else had ventured this far south of the river. She had long since gotten used to Neerask's hunting but it was not as graceful as that of a dragon's hunting technique. More like the giant predatory cats that once roamed earth, it chased down it's prey before leaping onto it's back. Every now and again, she'd get an image from her Wher but Neerask had long since learned to keep the 'hunt' out of her human's mind. She couldn't keep out the contentment, however, as she ate.
