Character Description

L'rel is tall and slender, with a thin build which belies the limber strength dragonriding has brought him. He isn't scrawny, just thin, but some of his movements reveal that some of the gawkiness he possessed in younger years still hasn't left him. He has a pale complexion, and rather than developing a tan when he spends too much time in the sun, he gets freckles. In the summer, the pale freckles that are barely noticeable in the winter cover his face and arms. He has dark brown hair and keeps the straight locks short, as a good dragonrider should. His eyes, one of his best features, are a very light blue. L'rel puts little thought into his dress and wears practical clothing, usually in neutral colors.
Character Personality

L'rel is a hard worker. He is very dependable and he will always do whatever is asked of him. He has great respect for anyone who ranks him, and he never disobeys orders, making him an ideal "yes man." Unfortunately, some people will try to take advantage of this quiet, unassuming Bluerider, and he will rarely call anyone out on it. He is shy at heart and dislikes drawing attention to himself, so he would never want to start a dispute.
Those who look beyond his dependable exterior will find a loyal and caring friend, someone who will always be there in times of trouble. He is eager to give second (or third) chances in most cases, and he tries hard not to judge his friends. In reality he has little to worry about, for the friends he chooses are usually quiet and reserved like he is. They are often brown or blue riders like himself, or weyrfolk--he is nervous around metallic riders, and because of past experiences, he has a mistrust for green riders, although he would never mention it out loud or be rude to one of them. L'rel has a soft spot in general for the weak and helpless, and he has a great fondness for children and animals.
He hardly seems like the type of outcast to transfer to Cepju, but he wanted to leave his sordid affair behind. So many people were transferring to Cepju anyway, and he decided that it sounded like an interesting place to go. He's not really a doomsayer, but he won't dispute any Wingleader who tells him that Thread is coming back.
Character History

L'rel, originally named Lyirel, was born in Fort Weyr. He was the result of a one-time fling between a kitchen worker and a bronzerider, and neither of his true parents paid much attention to him. He was raised communally in the creche. Lyirel always knew that he would be a rider, and he stayed focused on his goal. Somehow he thought that good behavior as a child would make him a better candidate later on, and he rarely acted up. He was known as a good two-shoes and often antagonized by the other children, but little Lyirel didn't complain, at least not out loud.
He started Standing at age fourteen, and Impressed a turn later to Blue Criseth, a shy, nervous little blue who needed a lot of encouragement throughout training. L'rel went from goody-two-shoes to class pet. He was always on time, and followed the rules. Towards the end of training, it became clear that Criseth had a talent for finding candidates. After graduation, L'rel became a Searchrider.
Everything was fine until L'rel met a Greenrider, V'dron, a recent transfer from Igen. The pair started seeing more and more of each other. L'rel fell hard, and he was infatuated with V'dron for about a turn. Then, he found out that V'dron had been cheating on him the whole time. L'rel was devastated. Cepju seemed like the perfect way to forget his mistake and get focused on his work again.
Dragon Description

Criseth is a small Blue, with the perfect build designed for agility. Despite his small size, he is very well proportioned, and from his gleaming hide it is clear that he is very well cared for. His hide is a deep royal blue, darkening further to a near-black shade on his paws and the tip of his nose.
Dragon Personality

Criseth tends to be a worrywart. He over-thinks, and he is always waiting for the next thing to go wrong. He needs encouragement from his rider, who can remind him to calm down and enjoy life. He does pick up on feelings very easily, which may be why he is so emotional himself. His empathetic side comes out in his Search talent. Criseth enjoys finding candidates, even if he does worry about them terribly afterwards.
