Marks
Pernese use a type of currency called Marks. These Marks range in size and value but the general price of Marks are set by the Master Trader and Master Craftsman every few Turns.
Two Mark pieces are the largest mark pieces you can get. It is the combination of these and smaller Mark pieces that are used to pay for goods if someone does not have the ability to trade for them.
Trading on Pern
Trading is a highly popular and easy way to get goods. Generally it is a goods for goods system but labor can often be traded for something. The value of one given product is often determined when the Trade Master and Master Craftsmen gather but most will often make an appropriate assessment of their own goods and how much those are worth if there is not a recent set standard.
Masters Meet
Every few turns (2-3) the Master Trader will gather with the other Master Craftsmen to judge how much something is worth. This is done to ensure that everyone will get a fair price for their goods and keep others from overcharging. These Meets will last until everyone has agreed upon a set price.
Out of Character Marks
Out of Character Marks are obtained via a variety of ways. These can be used to purchase various things for in game play that your character normally wouldn't have. These are no affected by gaining Marks in the game but more of an OOC currency for us here on the Boards.
