Getting Searched Ages for Boys: 12 - 24 Ages for Girls: 14 - 26 While we do allow you to start out as a candidate (if we have eggs on the sand), it's preferred that you start out as a regular character and then have your character searched. Searches will happen whenever there is a clutch expected to hatch (roughly every six months or so). When this happens, there will be a post regarding submitting a form for request of Candidacy. Merely follow the instructions on that and someone will be dispatched to search your character. Generally these will be designated Search Riders. Character's who have dragons that are quite adept at discovering people who have excellent chances to impress dragons. Prior to having a Search Thread up, you can send a PM to the Admin regarding the desire to have your character as a Candidate. When you are searched, you'll be expected to visit the Candidate Barracks and report in to the Candidate Master. Generally, a Search Rider will give a Candidate a special 'Mark' to notify the Candidate Master that they are responsible for that person's arrival. Please note! If you do not speak with the Candidate Master, you are not considered a Candidate. You'll be assigned a cot, a work shift and a class schedule. You're expected to attend your work shifts and your classes. These are not there to be mean but to help prepare you for the life you'll be living as a dragonrider.

Candidate Lessons Dragon Lore - Information regarding dragons and various bits of lore related to them. This also includes common problems affecting a young dragon Dragon Care - Several Dragonriders will volunteer their time to allow a group of candidates to care for their dragons for a single day. Generally this is cleaning, oiling and other day to day tasks required of a Dragonrider. Trips Between - Not quite a lesson but candidates will be expected to experience the reality of Between at least once during their candidacy. Harper Lessons - All Candidates are expected to attend lessons from the Harpers. Craft Lessons - All Candidates are expected to work in a chosen craft at least one day out of each sevenday. Should there be additional lessons, they will be required to attend those as well. Trips to the Sands - Candidates will be brought to the Sands to get a feel for the difference between the heated sands and the regular sand of the Weyrbowl. They will also, Gold dragon willing, be permitted to get close to the eggs. This does not mean touching the eggs however. First Day as a Weyrling - This lesson is to educate potential Weyrlings as to what happens at the moment of impression. From the ravenous hunger to the sudden influx of thoughts. Hatching Day and what to Expect - This class is to try and educate Candidates as to what the Hatching Day will be like. This often includes other Dragonriders coming in to speak about how their experiences on the hatching sands. Not Impressing - This class is one that is there to help relieve the worries that some may have that they will not be able to impress. It also details what happens should a Candidate fail to Impress and reach an age when they are no longer permitted to stand.

Candidates will not enter the hatching sands without permission. The Candidate Master must know where they are at all times. If there is something that may affect their impression, a Candidate must inform someone immediately. Candidates must remain celebate for a full sevenday before a hatching. If a Candidate is found to be pregnant, she will be removed from candidacy. Keep in mind, you are signing up for a full Career here. While they will not actively discourage you, the Candidate Master and other staff will do their best to give you a practical understanding of what you are getting yourself into.
Upon acceptance of becoming a Candidate, a Candidate will be given the following clothing: A set of Impression Robes. Candidate Knots and Weyrhold Badge One set of Footwear. Two changes of basic clothing if they do not possess one.
Should they need anything else, they may put the request towards either the Candidate Master or the Headwoman.
