Talera didn't have much more time to consider the effects that a girl riding brown would have on the Weyrhold. More dragons had hatched, but the bickering of the bronze and the greens were not what roused the woman's mind.
Aerroth had.
The sudden, unmistakable sensation of another mind joined with her own – the bliss and the anguish – had brought Talera to her knees in front of the golden dragonet. She cupped the beautiful creature's face between her own two hands, and Talera could feel the tears well from her eyes and fall down her cheeks. Even as her vision blurred from the dampness, she turned her eyes to look to the gold's own faceted gaze. “Of course, Aerroth. Of course you will.” Without thinking about it, the woman took a strip off of her robe and used it to wipe at the hatchling's paws. “No wonder the sand's bothering you – you've still got bits of that egg on you, love.” Then get them off, the dragon replied, sounding ever the petulant child. Talera winced, still unused to the sound of the golden dragonchild's thoughts within her. She wiped at the grains and goo both, before the pang of hunger snapped at her own stomach. “You're starving – we – N'ven has a meal ready for you.” Then take me to him. When I have finished my meal, you may continue cleaning me, mine.
Talera had started to rise from her knees, the sand-scorched flesh still unheeded by the freshly-Impressed woman. Rather than noticing the burn of the sands on her skin, she looked down to the dragonet in confusion. “Mine?” You are mine, are you not? You are better than the rest, and so I chose you. I have you, mine. “Aerroth, heart, saying “mine” constantly sounds, well...” Speak. “Stupid.” The dragonet, having turned her sights onto the buckets of cut meats, whipped her head back to glare at her newly-bonded lifemate. Stupid? Are you implying that I am not as intelligent as those flight-headed greens, or that feminine oaf of a brown? “Not at all,” Talera said, doing her best not to laugh at the indignation in the gold's tone, “I'm saying you sound it.” The dragonet huffed, then waddled toward the buckets without another glance back. Talera allowed herself a laugh and wiped at her rather ruddy-looking face. For all the little queen's haught, the woman knew Aerroth would stop using the term – and for ill or good, she'd likely try to impose the same on her clutchmates.
What had she gotten herself into? At least, Talera mused, there didn't seem to be much difference in the gold's logic and the that of the creche's weyrbrats.

N'ven sighed a little as he watched more of the dragons impressed. He watched as the gold finally hatched and moved towards one of the girls. There was a sigh of relief that it had hatched perfectly fine and now apparently impressed. That was the main thing for this hatching, at least in his mind anyway. There was a slight wrinkling of his nose as he noticed another girl impressing. Wonderful, three female riders. The only one that warranted respect was the gold rider but even then it was only due to the fact that Aerroth was gold and nothing more. He motioned to the others. "Quickly, food." The group nearby hurried to get the food out and easily within reach of the new Weyrlings. He was not going to discriminate against who was male and female right now, not when the dragons needed to eat. He can comment about it later. M'ker did look more relieved when the gold impressed to one of the female candidates. That was beyond a huge relief for the new pairing. The impression did silence the people around him that was yammering about the Brown's impression. M'ker, himself, was actually pleased with the pairings so far. It meant more numbers for the Weyrhold but beyond that, it also showed that the recent selection of Candidates were the best choices for the Weyrhold itself. He only hoped they would remain with the Weyrhold and not venture out to other Weyrs. With the impressions occurring, it was almost missed when more eggs begin to fully hatch. An egg hatched into another brown. He was a bit on the lighter shade of brown but had no discerning marks to make him look any different in color then the very sands the eggs were on. Beside him, a blue hatched into the sands. There were specks of other shades of blue all along his form and he was just the typical size for a blue. Both moved towards the candidates, the brown stopping just in front of young Melarl. He was about to creel at the young boy when the nearby blue butted him away. He paused in front of the young boy and seemed to wait for a bit. The two staring at one another as Melarl shouted out in a bit of surprise and wonder. "Of course, Sileduth!" Likewise, others were following suit as the rest of the twenty three eggs began to hatch and the dragons find their humans. Most were muted in the applause and cheers echoing about the sands but another green and a blue found their other half. The two that were closest were no exception. The Bronze moved towards two boys standing near each other when the green suddenly shrilled harshly at him. She moved to interpose herself between him and the boy on one side. Hissing at him before her gaze flicked towards the boy in front of her. You should not be looking at others, mine. Her voice was irritated and quite distinct as she regarded the young boy. A'lanmine, I am here. There is no need to look elsewhere. Your Ralaikoth is all that you should look at. The green sounded quite assure of herself as she regarded the boy. The bronze snorted at her before glancing up towards the other boy. I am not sure what her problem is. The hunger radiated from him to reach towards the young boy. Your Cyinoth is hungry, R'zonmine. If you are done being distracted, I would like food now. It was happy that it was near the human that was his but it had that hunger like everyone else. It stared up at the boy and waited for R'zon to take him to get food. That hunger was almost overbearing as Cyinoth looked up with those large eyes of his and stared. Cyinothd83a00Personality:As far as dragons go, Cyinoth is just what one would expect. Everything that makes a human good is what makes Cyinoth's personality go round. He's kind and generous and completely not what one would expect of a bronze. There is patience and general concern for others. Of course, that doesn't mean that he's not bronze. Cyinoth has that typical confidence that would almost be considered being cocky but it's not. He just knows that he is bronze and that he does not need anyone to tell him his worth. He is and his rider is and that is good enough for him. While he is not overly thoughtful or the type to plan, he is the type to put his full weight behind what he believes in. Especially if his rider believes in it as well. Cyinoth does have one particular downfall. He loves to chase. Green, gold; if it rises, he wants to try to fly it. Not necessarily to win, although thats an incredibly good thing in his opinion too, but just the simple joy of the chase. If he can talk his rider into letting him chase after something or to just fly as much as he can. He will. Occasionally, it might come across as silly with how he likes to hop in the air and fly instead of walking short distances. Description:Cyinoth's body is primarily one of a common bronze shade but there is a change in the color that makes him stand out from others. Along the back of his neck the color starts to take on a much brighter shade. This same shade is present on his shoulders and hips along with the membranes of his wings. The colors make Cyinoth look like he had just popped right out of some forge, and that parts of him are still affected by the heat. He is not as large as his golden sister but he is definitely the right size for a bronze. He's well built and has the stamina to match. Ralaikoth7ba020Personality:Ralaikoth is a green who knows one thing and one thing only. She is better then everyone else. She may not be a gold but who says that only golds are the important girls in a Weyr? It doesn't matter that golds are Queen dragons, Ralaikoth prefers being a princess anyway. Those are always so much prettier and just plain better anyway. Ralaikoth knows that a Gold generally gets more sway in the Weyr but that doesn't mean she's going to simply lay down and take it. If someone cannot accept the fact that Ralaikoth is better then every one else, then she will just have to prove it and rub their faces in it. She's not trying to be mean, she's just trying to ensure people are aware of where everyone's place in the world. The only exception are those people she feels are her equals. Generally, it's only her rider that fits into that category but there are a few dragons that she will treat with the same deference. These friends of her's are just as important and awesome as she is. Should someone attempt to call them unworthy then Ralaikoth will prove that they are far better and far more important. She'll even disobey orders to prove her point. Well, unless those orders are from her's of course. Description:Ralaikoth is the typical sized green. Neither lithe nor overly muscular; she's just the right size. From her nose to her tail, she's perfectly shaped. Her color is somewhere close to lime green but it has it's own variance for her. The front of her muszzle is a dark green color as is her entire tail. The edges of her wing membranes start with that dark color and gradually lighten to the same color as the rest of her form. Across her toes is an unusual shade of green that might almost be considered yellowish or maybe close to brown; there are other spots of that color across her hide but it seems to be there to perfectly accent her natural form. In the air, Ralaikoth is fast and capable. She often goes to prove that she is far beyond the other dragons in her Wing. Sometimes, she'll over stress herself but never to the point of harming herself or those she is close to.

Zyika watched all of them in pure curiousity she found it odd that a Green was pretty much very upset with the Bronze. Her eyes flickered once more off to another Green Hatchling. She smirked slightly at how Green that Green was and shook her head slightly. Closing her eyes she sighed. Will these hatchlings just hurry up and finish impressing already, she was getting tired of just standing there. Her arms crossed slightly as she looked around.
Her eyes settled back at the bright Green as the little thing started to walk around looking for hers. The head moved between the boys and the girls as if deciding until the thing started running towards her. A voice filled her head Why there you are, Zyikamine! The green promptly sat on her haunches and peered at her rider. Your Paeth could not find you and was worried that you weren't here. You're here. Paeth's here. We're here together. Zyika's eyebrow twitched slightly as she felt the hunger pains. "Child, I haven't moved at all." She said Now that we are here can you please feed your Paeth?
"Come on." Zyika turned starting to walk off as the little Paeth pranced behind her happily. Oh Zyikamine! Look my lovely Gold sister impressed. Paeth commented as Zyika ignored her petty comments. Once they reached the food, Zyika began to pick up the food and feed her new Dragon. She closed her eyes for a second to recollect her thoughts before opening them to begin to study what was now hers.

Talaria and TanithTalaria watched the whole ordeal with the Brown with some concern as he half mauled a boy beneath him. There was little she could do for the boy, but she watched the hatchling carefully as a girl ran over to help disentangle the two. What was that girl doing anyway? Didn’t the candidate master tell her not to approach a dragon that wasn’t hers? She was sure to join the boy in being mauled… then the girl was dropping to her knees and hugging the Brown and Talaria was all sorts of confused. What was going on? Surely the girl hadn’t… Impressed the Brown? Had a girl ever Impressed a Brown before? Tanith?
What?
Is the Brown Impressed to that girl?
Here I thought you were intelligent. Can’t you see for yourself?
Talaria scowled at that. Sharding Green. Then turned back to practical matters, Is the Brown hurt? As a dragonhealer she felt obligated to find out.
He doesn’t seem to be… that boy is though. It was slightly worrying that the Green sounded amused at that.
She watched as a Bronze hatched, and the Green that had hatched shortly after the girl-Impressing Brown seemed to get into it with him. While the Bronze and Green stalled their Impressing, the second Green hatchling who had previously been playing in the sand seemed to get herself together and headed toward the candidates. She Impressed one of the girls and was soon led off the sands. Her gaze shifted back to the Bronze for a moment. Would he too choose a girl? There had to be something wrong with that Brown… Browns did NOT Impress to girls.
Then the Gold hatched. Talaria tensed, as did Tanith, knowing quite well how her very badly her rider had wanted a Gold for her own. The Gold in that clutch was the only reason she had agreed to stand… and then Tanith had Impressed to her. Her hands clenched as she fought the rising jealousy, watching the woman the Gold had chosen lead her away. Tanith’s presence at the back of her mind was miniscule, the Green retreating from her rider’s mind in her own jealousy.
More eggs hatched, more hatchlings Impressed that she vaguely made note of, until the Brown and Green that seemed to be getting into it with each other moved toward two boys. The Green made a harsh sound that brought Talaria out of her jealousy induced haze just in time to see her cousin Impress the Bronze. Her fingers twitched slightly. If her cousin could Impress Bronze why couldn’t she Impress Gold? She watched him lead the Bronze off to be fed. R'zon and CyinothRoruzon watched the Bronze move toward them, exuding confidence with every step. He shone as only Bronzes and Golds can and almost seemed to glow on his own. Upon closer inspection it seemed it was an illusion due to the bright coloration of his hide. That illusionary glow drew Roruzon’s complete attention as the Bronze came forward to inspect some of the boys. How distinguished he looked… here was a dragon that would be remembered… how could one ever come to forget him? Suddenly the Green from before made an angry noise and charged toward the Bronze, looking more than a little angry. The two seemed to argue or something and Roruzon shifted slightly, his attention still fully upon the Bronze and wondering what on Pern that Green’s problem was.
Even the Gold hatching, which seemed a bit more quick and discreet than it should have been, went unnoticed. The Bronze and Green both moved toward him and Arlan and he found himself holding his breath. I am not sure what her problem is. He blinked down at the Bronze. Your Cyinoth is hungry, R'zonmine. If you are done being distracted, I would like food now. His breath came out all at once as he gazed at the Bronze before him with more love than he’d ever felt for anything in his life, and he felt the same emotion returned to him… and then the hunger pangs.
“D-distracted? I wasn’t distracted… all I could do was stare at you and that glowing hide of yours.” A grin spread across his face, an incredibly rare expression for Roruzon… no, R’zon. That’s what Cyinoth had called him. Cyinoth seemed quite pleased with that. “C’mon… Cyinoth… let’s get you some food.” With one hand atop the Bronze’s head he led the way toward where the other newly Impressed were gathering to feed their dragons. By the time he reached the area his grin was gone, but a smile still curved his lips and he kept glancing down at Cyinoth. He was so… beautiful. Handsome just didn’t seem strong enough. Can I eat now, R’zonmine? I’m very hungry. He grabbed some meat immediately and handed it to his dragon, “Of course….” Fala and ZemothN’ven’s voice drew her attention briefly and her gaze narrowed at him slightly. He didn’t need to yell at her like that. Zemoth butted his head against her to hurry her along and those intense hunger pangs hit her again. “C’mon Zemoth, this way for food.” She led the little Brown toward N’ven, mostly ignoring the man and grabbing some meat without hesitation to feed her starving lifemate. “Here you are, Zemoth… we’ll get rid of that hurt now.” She scratched at his eyeridges affectionately as he snapped up the meat, More?
She gave him another piece which he promptly snapped up and looked around to see other newly Impressed pairs arriving. The Gold had hatched and Impressed to an older candidate and a Green had Impressed as well. As she continued to feed Zemoth boys started coming over with Blues and Greens, and a Bronze. The boy who’d Impressed him was the same one she’d attempted a conversation with when they’d visited the sands. And didn’t his Bronze just look like living fire?
Zemoth was still better. Much better…. Look at all those shades of color on him. She especially enjoyed the reddish-brown on his wings…. He looked like all the colors of autumn splashed onto one little dragon. Well… not that little in all honesty; he was larger than most of his clutchmates. ”You’re perfect, you know Zemoth?” She felt the urge to hug him again but held back as he was still quite hungry, and that was more important right now. Zemoth sent His a wave of love as she offered him more meat, You are perfect as well, Falamine.

N'ven was scowling at each of the candidates as they seemed to take their sweet time with getting over toward where the food was. How many times had he told them during training that they needed to be over in this area right after hatching. He ignored the commentaries between the new riders and their dragons, just on account of the fact that it was all silly pansy talk right now. Not that he'd been any better but he'd impressed decades ago.
"Alright kids, feed them slowly." He watched all the new pairs with interest before moving to snatch the hand of one candidate who was shoveling food into his new blue with gusto. "Slowly! You don't want him to choke." N'ven wasn't the most pleasant of people, having been more referenced to being like an irate herdbeast then a candidate master. He was rather glad that they would all be pushed off onto some younger dragonrider. Well most of them anyway, he would take the ones that hadn't impressed and begin the process all over again. He glanced over to the group of riders on the outskirts and wondered which one would take his place. Whichever, it hardly mattered right now, he'd deal with the new lifemates until someone came to get them.
"You're going to feed them until you start to feel that hunger subside. Keep an eye on their eyes as well." He would walk around each pair, motioning to the new ones to take a place near the meat. "The whirling colors will slow and eventually change to a green or blue color. When it hits that point, think about your hunger. Is it still as overwhelming or does it feel like how you are normally hungry or is it gone all together?" The old man rubbed his grizzled chin as he walked, pausing every few moments to regard the dragons. He was already working out in his head which of the boys would probably end up in ranking positions. The girls would all be at the bottom but he wasn't broadcasting that out loud. He was a bit disturbed by the fact that there were so many female impressions in this batch. Perhaps they hadn't searched enough boys after all.
"Don't be alarmed if you suddenly notice anything unusual." Most people didn't have any of the bad things but well, he figured he'd be safe then sorry right now. "Your new lifemate is going to be channeling all of their thoughts and feelings to you. Which may be an image, a thought or even a smell. It's perfectly normal, just focus more on feeding them and the hunger." He glanced up at the stands to see if the Weyrleader was going to make his way down. He just guessed that the man would make his appearance later, when they all discussed the newly impressed.

Arlan was soon enthralled with the hatchlings, his eyes wide as he watched each one choose a lifemate. It was different being right here on the sands, instead of watching from a distance. His mouth dropped open when a girl Impressed to a brown. Was that right? There was definitely going to be some uproar about that. But he hardly any time to think about it, because the Hatching was still going on around him. He grinned when the Queen hatched and successfully impressed to Talera, a nice girl who worked in the creche. She seemed to have a good head on her shoulders, and hopefully she would take well to being a leader.
Shifting back and forth on the hot sand, he watched as egg after egg hatched. It all happened so fast, and soon there were only a few eggs left. Being left Standing the first time wasn't unusual, so Arlan wasn't going to let himself get nervous about not Impressing this time. At least it had been an eventful Hatching, definitely a good one to watch.
And then, there was a bronze dragon headed for him. Arlan stared in disbelief, wondering if he was really going to Impress. But then the green pushed in front of the bronze, hissing. Arlan moved back, almost expecting to be mauled. The green was looking right at him! You should not be looking at others, mine. A peevish voice sounded in his mind, berating him. Despite the scolding tone, it was the most beautiful voice he had ever heard. A'lanmine, I am here. There is no need to look elsewhere. Your Ralaikoth is all that you should look at.
"I'm not looking elsewhere, Ralaikoth!" he assured her, his face lighting up. He had lived in the Weyr his whole life, hearing stories about what Impression was like. No words could compare to how it really felt. "Come on, let's feed you," he told her, ushering her off the sands as N'ven ordered the new weyrlings around.
Yes please, I'm starving. And only the best meat for me, please! Ralaikoth said, strutting beside her rider. She cast a glance around at the other dragonets, giving an arrogant sniff at how slobbish they were being. "Hmm, this looks like the choice cut," A'lan said, picking up a bowl of meat and playing along with his dragon. He started to feed her, careful not to go too fast like N'ven said.

N'ven glanced over at the newly impressed Arlan. At least there was another boy in the group. Shards and shells there were a lot of girls impressing. He missed the days when only a few women were ever brought to the sands for the gold egg. He nodded in approval to the young man. "Precisely like that." Even if one of the girls had managed to feed their dragon successfully, he wouldn't congratulate them. No, N'ven was not fond of women riders. Especially if they weren't on the gold.
"Though pay attention to your hunger. You don't want to overfeed her." Not that anyone ever had overfed their young dragon. There was always someone around to help out when it was needed. "Most of you will also notice your lifemate's hide. Tomorrow, you'll be shown again how to properly oil it which you'll need to do at least twice a day and any time a dragon feels itchy." He was a firm believer in doing it as much as possible to prevent harm to the young dragons.
